Hanalei Lookout Moonbow

So I’m told a have a knack for finding rainbows.  Rainbows happen at 42 degrees from your shadow where there’s moisture that the sun can shine through.  At or around a full moon you have the opportunity for a night rainbow, or moonbow.  After years of learning the weather tendencies here on Kauai, I’m able to get a grasp for when and where we can find these beauties.  There’s one challenge though, at night it’s really hard to see a rainbow with the naked eye.  Typically it’s a soft white band.  With a tripod and a long exposure, letting in more light, I’m able to capture more color to produce this amazing starry, colorful display.
