The 17 mile journey up State Highway 550 to Waimea Canyon will lead to the overlook of Kalalau Valley. Surrounded by sheer towering walls, the Kalalau Valley is a pristine hideaway that boasts waterfalls, rainbows and a remote beach that is only accessible by foot (permit required) via the 11-mile Kalalau trail or a view from a helicopter or a cruise along the Napali Coast by catamaran or zodiac. The quest to photograph the perfect rainbow has always been a passion of Abe’s, the weather has to be just right, patience is key, you’ll have to  wait for a rainy day and look for a pocket of sunshine to catch one. The photograph in the video has been transferred onto wood for a stunning and unique look, one is on Koa wood, the other is on mango wood and framed in Koa from Princeville, HI.

This view is one to add to your bucket list while visiting the island of Kauai.

Abe took this photo with a Canon 6D in 2017. Both wood transfers are available for purchase at Abe’s Kauai Photo in Harbor Mall, Lihue, HI, come by the shop to see other available pieces.
