Baby Monk Seal and Mom

Photograph of a three day old baby monk seal with it’s mother at Larsen’s Beach. Also known as Ka’aka’aniu Beach, these seals are endangered yet have been seen frequenting the shores of Kauai. I had plans for a big hike with a friend who was on extreme island time. Having started our day too late for a big hike, we went here. Seeing momma and baby is our consolation prize!
